In a wake of RippleWorks private foundation, Ripple Co-founder, Chris Larsen and his wife Lyne Lam announced $25 million donation in XRP to a University in California. The announcement was made on Thursday at the San Francisco State University (SFSU) College of Business.
Per the reports, donation of million in XRP is reportedly the largest donation in cryptocurrency to a United State University. Consequently, donated funds will be redirected to help students study ‘global entrepreneurial and fintech ecosystems’.
Leslie E. Wong, University President says that;
“This groundbreaking gift will position the College of Business as an evolving, distinctly diverse and industry-relevant epicenter of business innovation and entrepreneurship. Chris, Lyna, and Rippleworks are innovators, and their gift will inspire our students to creatively and strategically approach the business and tech landscapes to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and global business leaders.”
The San-Francisco based Ripple has already been donated funds to the university arena. However, the latest donation is made as a part of RippleWorks, together with Ripple for Good, a social venture launched by Ripple in last year. Since long time, Larsen is a supporter of the university- in fact. his family members also attended the university. Additionally, it’s worth to mention that the university is planning to rename it to Lam Family College of Business but the plan is yet to be finalized by California State University Board of Trustees.
Wong further adds;
“Chris, Lyna, and Rippleworks are innovators, and their gift will inspire our students to creatively and strategically approach the business and tech landscapes to become the next generation of entrepreneurs and global business leaders,”
Beyond Blockchain firm, Ripple is expanding and stepping ahead to support– education, blockchain awareness and poverty eradication. Additionally, the company in May last year has donated $50 million to 17 universities across the world via Ripple’s UBRI program (University Blockchain Research Initiative).
